Sometimes finding Castile soap can be challenging. Or maybe it’s a little outside your budget. Don’t worry. A lovely natural DIY foaming hand soap without Castile is more than possible — it’s easy.

Why Make Your Own Hand Soap?

Easy. If it’s super easy, why not? Pour everything into a soap dispenser and that’s it. I’m sure you’ll spend more time and effort researching how to make this than you will actually making it!

Safe. This DIY hand soap is free from harsh chemicals that can irritate your skin or fill the air with synthetic fumes—making it a safer choice for your body and your home.

Affordable. A low-end bottle of hand soap can cost up to 45% more than what you’ll spend making this soap at home. And while the one-time ingredient purchases might seem like a splurge, they quickly pay for themselves.

Ingredients

Hand soap refill – When I’m not using Castile, I try to stick with more natural name brands — Nature Clean is one of my go-tos. I get non-scented and fragrance free.

Essential oil – This is the best part — scenting your DIY foaming hand soap. Orange is wonderful, but anything goes. Some other ideas are lavender, lemon and eucalyptus. For this recipe I used the Now brand, but some better brands include Young Living, doTERRA and Plant Therapy.

Water – Filtered is ideal.
