Why Make Your Own Bathroom Cleaner?

Safe – Those harsh chemicals in store-bought cleaners can give you headaches, skin irritations and breathing troubles. Not to mention, they can be fatal to small children if ingested. This homemade bathroom cleaner is made of all natural ingredients, making it safe for your family.

Inexpensive – There are a few one-time purchases, and then you’ll just be refilling your spray bottle as needed. Homemade bathroom cleaner is about 85% cheaper than buying store-bought products!

Easy and Fast – I could see your hesitation if it were hard work and took a ton of time — but this cleaner is SUPER simple and takes about 2 minutes to make. Just pour it all in and start spraying!

Bonus Reasons for Why You Should Make Your Own Bathroom Cleaner

  1. It can be scented however you’d like. So if you want a more festive vibe at Christmas time, you could add peppermint or cinnamon essential oils. You are in control of the ingredients.
  2. Science for your children! It’s easy, safe and they’ll have fun doing it. Plus, they can practice math and literacy at the same time!
  3. A simple task to add to your children’s chore list.
  4. Self-sufficiency — another thing you can do on your own 😉
  5. It’s fun! Making your own — well, anything — is super satisfying AND hugely rewarding. How fun is that?

Equipment

  • Spray bottle
  • Bottle funnel

Ingredients

  • 1/3 of the bottle – white vinegar
  • 20 drops lemon essential oil
  • 10 drops tea tree or eucalyptus oil (or both)
  • remainder of the bottle – water
  • 1/4 tsp Dawn dish soap (optional)

Instructions

Notes

Instead of tea tree or eucalyptus oil, you may use blends like Thieves by Young Living or On Guard by doTERRA, since they can be used for the same purpose.
A tad of Dawn dish soap goes a long way. It is not required, but it helps ensure effectiveness and lends some peace of mind if you’re new to all of this 😉
